Trezor‑Suite

Quick-start guide and landing page: install, secure and manage your Trezor hardware wallet using Trezor‑Suite.

Quick start — get running with Trezor‑Suite

Trezor‑Suite is the official desktop companion app for Trezor devices (Trezor One, Model T). It handles wallet setup, firmware updates, transaction signing and portfolio management while keeping private keys securely on your device. Below are the core steps and best practices to start safely.

Download & install

Always download Trezor‑Suite from the official Trezor website. Choose the installer that matches your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux) and verify any checksums or signatures if provided.

Set up your device

On first use, Trezor will prompt you to create a PIN and generate a recovery seed (12 or 24 words). Record the recovery seed offline—do not store it on a computer or cloud storage. Use the Suite UI to initialize, or select the restore option if you already have a seed.

Send & receive

To receive funds, generate a receiving address in Suite and confirm it on your device. To send funds, create the transaction in Suite and verify the recipient address and amount on your Trezor device screen before approving. Always review the address on the hardware display, not just in the app.

Security best practices

  • Keep your recovery seed offline; consider a metal backup for durability.
  • Never share your recovery seed or enter it into websites or apps.
  • Use a strong device PIN and store it separately from your seed.
  • Only install Suite from the official site and verify update prompts in-app.
  • Consider enabling a passphrase (advanced feature) for an extra layer of security, but understand the responsibility it adds.

Troubleshooting

If your device is not recognized, try a different USB cable, use another USB port, restart Suite, and ensure your device is unlocked. On Linux, check udev rules. For firmware or synchronization issues, consult Trezor documentation and contact official support if needed.

Recovery & restore

If you need to restore a wallet, use your recovery seed on a new device via the Suite’s restore flow. The process requires entering your seed directly into the Trezor device (not the computer) for security.

Advanced tips

Use multiple accounts for different assets or purposes, pair Trezor‑Suite with trusted explorers for verification, and for very large holdings consider multisig configurations and hardware backups.
